Revisions of Valhalla is a posthumous release by the poet Daniel Kreadman Kuhn, edited by his son Dylan K. Kuhn and typeset faithfully to Dan’s line breaks and syntax by is PRESS publisher Peter Miles Bergman. Dylan K. Kuhn with is PRESS with, first edition, first printing 2023, Denver, Colorado
Revisions of Valhalla is a 28 page, 8.5 x 5.5″ saddle-stitched zine letterpress printed covers in graphite ink. Revisions of Valhalla documents Dan’s 50 year project revising the poem what is needed for Valhalla, with the inclusion of six evolving revisions, written in different medai, on a typewriter, handwritte, on a computer, handwritten again. Dan wrote the first included version upon returning from Vietnam and the last version on August 15th 2022, two and a half months before he succumbed to Parkinson’s disease.
From the preface: “Among my father’s poems was one titled “what is needed for Valhalla”. Revising his poems occupied much of his last years, and this one seems to have had a particularly strong draw. He suffered from Parkinson’s disease, which affected the work on more levels than I will probably ever know. … I found these revisions in drawers with clothes, piles of undergarments on the desk, untitled folders on the computer, and scraps of paper among bank statements.”
Revisions of Valhalla is a profound document of a largely unpublished poets lifelong practice to refine his craft, and of a son’s effort to memorialize his father’s life’s work which wen largely unrecognized by the wider world.
Revisions of Valhalla is laser printed on 60# French parchtone paper and hand sewn with blue thread. covers are printed on 140lb. French Snowcone Poptone blue paper with graphite (silver and black ink) on a Chandler & Price Letterpress.
