PaCT documents a 23 year, two-part journey. In 1996 at the age of 23, Peter and Dylan Kuhn set out to hike the 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. Burned out, injured, and broke after 90 days and 1,750 miles they quit in Oregon with a pact to return for the remaining 900 miles when they were twice as old. In 2019 they reconvened at 46 to reflect on life’s journey, and race increasingly threatening storms towards Canada.

Submission is open to all to submit a free-standing table-top tri-fold display addressing the eternal theme of “individuals and their relationship to groups”.

The Institute of Sociometry (which gives us the “is” acronym in is PRESS) in this case is PRESS partners Heather Link Bergman & Peter Miles Bergman are excited and honored to have a large zine-themed installation in the fall MCA Denver exhibition Citizenship: A Practice of Society curated by Zoe Larkins. is PRESS also designed, co-published, and letterpress printed the covers of the exhibition catalog. The exhibition runs from October 2nd through February 14th with timed entry.
Raw Fury is an ongoing collaboration between is PRESS and Flatlands Press in Chicago. Raw Fury is a local scene ‘zine, and a ridiculously fancy art book that focuses on contemporary urban art from or connected to Chicago and Denver. Issues 1-5 – mostly sold out – are now available for free online! ¶ Each 7.5″ square 60 page issue has screenprint and letterpress covers, mixed paper stocks, and risograph gallery pages and posters (posters are not show on these digital versions.)
Quaranzine Fest was a (cough…) viral concept to connect zine makers and patrons in this turbulent time of social distancing. On April 4th and 5th the hashtag #quaranzinefest was used over 2,200 times on instagram! (At the time of this posting it’s still going with 2,800 posts.) Zine makers from around the world posted, liked, commented, chatted, DM’d, and even BOUGHT ZINES!
is PRESS tabled with our sister imprint Flatlands Press at the 3rd annual Chicago Art Book Fair November 15th – 17th 2019. CABF 2017 was our first Art Book Fair after innumerable zine fests; and, we’ve tabled every year since, growing with it as we all learned to crawl, stand, and walk! Chicago is and will always be our home-away-from-home fair!
After 18 months of DIY architectural drawings, trips to city hall, trench digging, wrangling trades people, our buddy Jim the genius carpenter living in out driveway all winter with his bulldog, painting, playing floor plan Tetris with 500 lb. equipment, and scrubbing drywall dust encrusted grease of our new 10×15 C&P letterpress, is PRESS is FINALLY in a functional space!
